Wellcome to webEIEL, Deputación da Coruña's (A Coruña Province Council) portal advocated to serve contents related to the geographical phenomena of the province, their computation, analysis, study and cartographic representation, as well as to other subjects also related to provincial territory.
From 1986 on, Deputación da Coruña has fulfilled the so called EIEL (Spanish acronym for Enquiry on Local Infrastructures ans Services), launched in 1985 by the by then called Ministry for Territorial Administration (laterly Ministry for Public Administrations and nowaday Ministry off Territorial Administration) with the goal of compiling the information referred to the services of municipal competence (be them exclusive or shared) in order to be used as the basis for the regulation of the economic cooperation of Spanish State to local administrations.
That initial goal was progressively shifting towards a broader one due to the new using posibilities derived from the digitizing and computerized management of data by means of the use os geographic information technologies (GIT), what transformed EIEL into a great tool for territorial managing and knowledge.
webEIEL geo-portal is then the common container and public window of the so called Plataforma eielAC, set of actions and tools developed by Deputación da Coruña to manage, analyze and share with the public the knowledge obtained from the data stored at EIEL Territorial Database (BDT-EIEL).
